The Procera system is a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) based system, which was developed by Nobel Biocare, primarily for the fabrication of unbelievably accurate aesthetic crowns for their own brand implants. In these days we can manufacture this metal-free crown for natural teeth too, manufactured from a particularly hard material. The gist of the technology is that the lab technician records the measurements of the sample from a traditional cast with the help of a mechanical scanner. Data acquired this way is sent to the European Procera Centrum via email. There they manufacture the frame of the crowns and bridges of aluminum-oxide and zirconium-oxide, with a precision of 6 micrometers. The finished frames are sent back to us within 2-3 days. The dental lab technician then builds up the final ceramic shrouding onto the acquired frame individually.
